1. Our Commitment
CourtNetra is designed to be usable by every member of the Indian legal community, including advocates and staff who rely on assistive technology. We target compliance with:
- Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, as the global accessibility baseline.
- Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW) 3.0, the Indian public-sector accessibility standard, for structural parity.
2. What This Looks Like in Practice
- Full keyboard navigation for all major flows.
- Focus-visible rings meeting AA contrast on every interactive element.
- Colour contrast targets: 4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text.
- Semantic HTML landmarks (
<header>,<nav>,<main>,<footer>) on every page. - ARIA labels on icon-only buttons and status chips.
- Skip-to-content links at the top of every authenticated page.
- Multilingual interface covering English, Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, and Gujarati — with proper Devanagari / Dravidian / Bengali script rendering.
prefers-reduced-motionrespected — animations are scaled back when the OS requests it.
3. Ongoing Work
Accessibility is a continuous effort. Current focus areas:
- Screen-reader pass on the Quill-based blog editor.
- Improved Hindi and regional-script font rendering for long-form judgments.
- Keyboard shortcuts cheatsheet (? to open).
- Export-to-PDF tagging for assistive tech.
4. Report an Issue
If you encounter an accessibility barrier, please email accessibility@courtnetra.com with:
- The page URL and a short description of the problem.
- Your browser, screen reader (if any), and OS.
- What you expected to happen instead.
We acknowledge reports within two working days and aim to fix Level AA issues within two release cycles.
