Delete your CourtNetra account & data

Permanent account deletion — two methods, processed within 30 days.

Last updated: July 2026

1. Two Ways to Request Deletion

You may request deletion of your CourtNetra account and associated personal data using either method below. Both are free, permanent, and irreversible.

Method A — Self-service inside the app or web dashboard

  1. Open the CourtNetra app (Android / iOS) or sign in at www.courtnetra.com.
  2. Navigate to Settings → Account.
  3. Tap or click “Delete account” and confirm when prompted.

Deletion begins immediately. You will receive a confirmation email and the process completes within 30 days.

Method B — Email request (if you cannot access the app)

  1. Send an email from your registered email address to contact@courtnetra.com.
  2. Use the subject line: “Delete my account”.
  3. Include your full name and the email address linked to your CourtNetra account so we can verify your identity.

We will acknowledge your request within 48 hours (Mon–Fri, 10 AM–6 PM IST) and complete deletion within 30 days of identity verification.

2. What Gets Deleted

Upon successful deletion the following data is permanently erased from CourtNetra’s systems:

  • Account profile — name, email address, phone number, profile photo, and login credentials.
  • Cases and legal work — all cases, hearings, compliance records, filings, and notes you created.
  • Documents and uploaded files — all attachments, court orders, evidence files, and letter drafts stored on the platform.
  • Client records — client profiles, contact details, and client-matter history created within your organisation.
  • NyayLens AI research history — all research queries, AI-generated summaries, citation checks, and draft fragments.
  • Usage and activity history — login history, audit logs tied to your user account, and notification preferences.

If your account belongs to an organisation (law firm or chambers), deletion removes your personal data and staff profile. Case and document records you created may be retained by the organisation under their own administrator account, as those records are the organisation’s property under the service agreement.

3. What Is Retained and Why

Certain records are retained for the periods required by Indian law even after your account is deleted:

Data categoryRetention periodLegal basis
Billing records & GST invoices8 yearsSection 128, Companies Act 2013; GST Rules 2017
Platform audit logs (security)90 daysIT (Intermediary Guidelines) Rules 2021, Rule 3(1)(g)
Anonymised / aggregate analyticsIndefinitely (no personal identifiers)Legitimate interest — product improvement; data is not re-identifiable

After the mandatory retention period expires, all retained records are permanently deleted. Anonymised analytics contain no name, email, device ID, or any other information that could identify you.

4. Timeline

  • Acknowledgement: within 48 hours of receiving a valid request (Mon–Fri, 10 AM–6 PM IST, excluding public holidays).
  • Deletion complete: within 30 days of identity verification.
  • Confirmation email: sent to your registered address once deletion is confirmed.

5. Important: Deletion Is Permanent

Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Once your account is deleted:

  • Your cases, documents, and legal work stored on CourtNetra cannot be recovered. Export your data before requesting deletion.
  • Active subscriptions are cancelled immediately upon deletion. No refunds are issued for unused subscription periods.
  • You will need to create a new account if you wish to use CourtNetra again in the future.

6. Your Rights Under the DPDP Act 2023

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:

  • Erasure (§12): withdraw consent and request deletion of personal data processed on the basis of consent.
  • Access (§11): obtain a summary of personal data we hold about you before requesting deletion.
